The Shoei Multitec boasts a significantly redesigned shell, emphasizing a smooth and sporty image, and the flip-up face cover and shell join to form a soft, streamlined shape which extends into the design of the ventilation system by blending into the shell's luxurious design. To reduce neck fatigue, an aero spoiler has been incorporated into the top rear of the Shoei Multi Tec shell thus preventing excess drag and lift, and the stylish ventilation design acts to direct airflow and restrain air resistance, improving overall aerodynamics. In order to control the amount of wind noise that can typically be experienced with a flip-up helmet, the Shoei Multitec features a minimized gap in the contact area of the face cover and shell, and the axis for the face cover's rotation is covered to minimize air entry. The Shoei Multi Tec's newly enlarged, optimally positioned vents induct 60% more air than previous models, keeping the rider's head cool and eliminating hot air through the rear neck outlets, and the lower intake vents help to prevent shield fogging from rider exhalation. A sewn center pad at the crown provides a secure, wrap-around-the-head fit; five-layer polyurethane foam and snugly fitting cheek pads are easily removable and washable and offer a special channel fitting for eyeglasses; an improved leather neck pad helps prevent shaking and reduces noise, and an exclusive chin curtain is included for further comfort and noise reduction. The Shoei Muti Tec boasts Shoei's own Quick Release Base Plate shield removal system, long considered to be the ideal method of shield removal and repair: shields can be taken off the helmet by the simple pull of a trigger. Finally, a high-performance combination of new and advanced shell materials, called Advanced Integrated Matrix (AIM), produces a lightweight shell with increased rigidity and elasticity, reducing inertia and impact in the event of an accident.
