I am returning this helmet because it lacks a critical safety feature and that is a back neck strap which gives the helmet a more secure retention system. For some reason Bell stopped producing these helmets with this added feature. Why? Cost. Savings? From a law enforcement standpoint this is a grave mistake...as a law-enforcement officer and motor officer, we are required to wear helmets that have this feature. Overall, this is a very good helmet, but without that added safety feature I will NOT wear it on duty or while doing any civilian riding. Please go back to offering this option and I will gladly order one and be happy to pay the extra $ for it.

Old stand-by comes through
The Bell Shorty is an original, almost iconic design from way back. I've been meaning to get a DOT after wearing an Outlaw beanie for years, and finally did so with the Shorty. The first thing I noticed, coming off an Outlaw, was that it's comfortable, nothing like a fishbowl (fullface) would be. Fit nicely, didn't feel like I had a bucket of water on my head. After an hour in the saddle (my longest ride so far) I was still loving it so that's a good sign. Also, even with the mini-visor there's no wind lift at all. Very nice helmet, I would highly recommended to anyone wanting the comfort and convenience of a half-helmet.

Looks like a great helmet
It's only 12 degrees here in the frozen northeast, so I haven't had a chance to ride with my new Bell shorty; however, the fit is great and the workmanship is the best I've seen in years. It's comfortable and lightweight. I bought a Bell helmet 25-30 years ago and haven't had one since. Glad to know it's made in America also.
