Received my metallic pearl gray RF1100 two days after I placed my order. The fit was true to size based on my other helmets. On my first test ride today I was impressed with the venting system, this was a strong factor in my choice because I live in a very hot area. With all vents open I could definitely feel a twirl of cool air around the top of my bald head. I was unable to feel air from the front vent but sensed that air was flowing, I could tell a difference when I closed it. I could hear the wind noise pretty good with all vents open but that is not a factor to me because I always use earplugs. With all vents closed there was still some sound of the wind but I feel that it was passing over the various bumps and warts necessary for the venting system, but not leaking inside the helmet. The three position face shield lock was another selling point for me and it seems to work well. In the middle position the tab on the right side of the shield will allow it to open and close normally. In the position toward my back the shield is spring loaded tighter against the seals and is locked in place and the tab must be moved forward to lift the shield . In the forward position the shield is slightly opened and allows for quite a bit of air flow around my face. This was my favorite position and will probably get the most use except on very cold days. This shield control system is very easy to operate even while wearing gloves and becomes second nature after using it a few times. The paint work and overall appearance of the helmet is very good. I am so pleased that I decided on the metallic gray over the light gray. The metal flakes are visible and glisten in the sunlight. I began riding in the sixties when metal flake was on everything and I still love it. My spectra chrome face shield was not is stock but it is understandable being this is very new model. None of the other sites had it in stock either. Initially I thought that the slots for my eyeglasses were too high not allowing the nose pieces to touch my nose but after looking as the shape and rake of the helmet I realized that I was wearing it too far back on my head. When I pulled down on the face guard my glasses lined up and my field of vision improved. This also loosed up the pressure I felt with the cheek pieces. I had at first thought that they were too tight. I am pleased with the price, fit and quality of my new Shoei.

I wanted a high visibility helmet with excellent engineering/design, solid safety certifications, good brand experience/reputation,etc. Shoei has met my requirements in the past, so I was considering it again. Even though I have been wearing a Scorpion EXO, I decided to try another Shoei -- a TZ-R in orange. After the order, Kyle reached out, accepted responsibility for the mistake there were none left in my size, and assisted with adjusting my order to a RF1100. I was very pleased with the customer focus and how the problem was handled by Helmet City. After having the Shoei for a week (and 20 years of riding experience), I can honestly say it is the quietest, highest quality helmet I have ever owned. It is exactly what I wanted.
